B&W is an Open Innovation consultancy that supports clients in defining and implementing their strategies related to R&D, innovation and new business development. B&W brings in expertise on all aspects of bringing science and technology to market, including excellence in collaborative RTD, IPR valorisation strategies, user-centred design and corporate venturing.
B&W works across Europe with the full range of innovation stakeholders, ranging from Fortune 500 companies like BASF and Volkswagen to small high-tech start-ups as well leading institutes such KU Leuven, ETH Zurich and TU Delft, and different national and regional governments. B&W has a strong entrepreneurial track through the involvement of the company and its partners in various start-ups (e.g. MCH+, Arboribus, Braingaze, etc.).
B&W has defined and is involved multiple H2020 and FP7 projects, including on novel approaches for design-driven material research (LightTouchMatters http://www.light-touch-matters.eu), research infrastructures for user-centred innovation (e.g. LIVING LAB, www.livinglabproject.org); it develops and manages RTD projects (e.g. HIVOCOMP, www.hivocomp.eu) and participated in technology road mapping studies (e.g. ObservatoryNANO, www.observatorynano.eu). Lastly, B&W is active in defining and implementing public policy related to innovation, directly for the European Commission) or through programmes with public authorities, e.g. IN2LifeSciences (www.in2lifesciences.eu) aiming to stimulate transnational cooperation between SMEs and knowledge institutes with vouchers.
B&W’s principal aim is to assure RTD yields tangible results that can be and are optimally exploited by all stakeholders involved. Projects supported by B&W are recognised both by industry and EU project officers as some of the most impactful projects in their portfolio.
