For the 4th time already the partners of the Science2Society-project met for their biannual meeting, this time from the 06.-08.11.2017 in Haasrode/Leuven (Belgium), hosted by Siemens LMS.
The first day of the 3-days-meeting was dedicated to the pilots, core of the project. As half of the time of the project is over, the pilot leaders could already present first outcomes of their pilot projects. First learnings how to best implement the different open innovation scheme piloted were presented. The Advisory Board also represented gave thoughtful comments and interesting impulses to think even more out of the box when it comes to efficient cooperation between science, industry and other relevant stakeholders at large. Focus of the second day of the meeting was the stakeholder engagement activities in general and the Learning and Implementation Alliance (LIA) in particular. The LIA is intended to be an online and offline community on the subject that continues to engage with each other in a lean-start-up approach of quick experiments followed by multi-stakeholder review of the experiment results and open sharing of the insights gained. This LIA should facilitate large scale sharing of the results, continued dialogue on the consequences of Science 2.0 developments for university-industry interfacing, and should also facilitate continued experimentation and sharing of the lessons-learned of such experimentation of open innovation cooperation schemes.
Stakeholder engagement means to identify and engage key stakeholders in the areas tackled by Science2Society, towards the creation of an extended network of valuable contacts and synergies that will allow to maximise the impact of the project and to assist the “movement” towards open innovation and science 2.0.
The third day was dedicated to the development of a number of analytical models to be employed by universities, RTOs and industry to support the (re-) engineering of their business processes relevant to the UIS-interfaces schemes considered. The meeting finished with the General Assembly.
