This UIS interface schema relates to the successful establishment and management of collaborative R&D or innovation projects between universities, industries, RTOs, SMEs and public sector entities. Such collaborative projects may be financed either by public research and innovation funding of EU H2020 programmes, or similar instruments at national or local level, or by private financing.
The benefits of such collaborations, when performed effectively and efficiently, are the creation of highly innovative solutions and capturing the value of (public) money invested. These are to the benefit of both parties and the greater society.
Challenges in such schemas may relate to how to generate concrete benefits for all collaborating parties for the creation, implementation and exploitation of collaborative RD&I activities. How to align interests, create a strong project vision, concept and consortium, and effectively and efficiently guide the partners towards the desired innovation outcome are some points of attention.
